The Museum is located in the town of Krapina, the centre of Krapina-Zagorje County, about 50 km from Zagreb. It is located near the world-famous Krapina Neanderthal site, next to the Hušnjakovo Hill. The Krapina Neanderthal Museum occupies the newly built facility nestled between two small hills, Josipovac and Hušnjakovo. The Museum covers a total surface area of around 1,200 m2, and spreads over two floors connected with a spiral ramp. A forest path directly connects the Museum with the Hušnjakovo site. The authors of this millennium’s most significant museum project and of its realisation are architect Željko Kovačić and paleontologist Jakov Radovčić.
